  • Silambarasan's Arasan shoot stopped due to dispute with producer Ishari K Ganesh
  • Disagreement traces back to earlier film Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu
  • Nadigar Sangam and FEFSI intervened, causing shoot halt

The latest buzz surrounding Silambarasan TR's much-awaited film Arasan is that the shooting has come to a sudden halt. The reason behind this move boils down to a feud between Silambarasan and producer Ishari K Ganesh. This conflict isn’t new though, as it’s been simmering since the actor's earlier flick Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, also produced by Ganesh.

After that film, Silambarasan reportedly took an advance of Rs 5 crore for a new project with Ganesh, but the film never took off, and fingers have been pointed at Silambarasan for the delay.

Now, the dispute has escalated so much that film bodies like Nadigar Sangam and the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) have stepped in, causing the Arasan shoot to grind to a halt.

T Rajendar steps in, questions the halt

As the conflict between the two has affected Arasan's shoot, actor-director T Rajendar, father of Simbu, is not holding back. He openly questioned those who gave the order to stop the shooting, saying, "I am not here to argue on behalf of Arasan or Silambarasan. I am here only to point out that the Tamil Film Producers Council and FEFSI, who support this move, should not act unjustly."

Rajendar also revealed that he stood by Silambarasan in court against Ishari K Ganesh’s case, where the judgement was in favour of the actor. The court ruled that the advance paid for the second film actually belongs to Silambarasan.

Calls for Nadigar Sangam to step up

T Rajendar urged Nadigar Sangam and the South Indian Artistes’ Association, to come to his son’s rescue and help find an amicable solution. "During election season," he says, "is it right for anyone to take the law into their own hands and stop a film shoot even after a court judgment?"

T Rajendar has also promised to meet the press soon to talk about the ongoing controversy. Meanwhile, the excitement continues as reports say Arasan is set to hit theatres for Diwali, with none other than Vijay Sethupathi playing a pivotal role. It was also reported that Tourist Family actor Yogalakshmi might be Silambarasan’s love interest in Arasan.

The big question, however, remains—will Arasan get back on track soon, or will this standoff continue?
