She added that she had previously kept such initiatives private but decided to speak about this one in the hope that it would inspire her followers.
“There is something in the characters you play that influence you. A lot of you keep asking are there any similarities between Jayamma and me and my answer is yes – and this is one of them. This has always been me and this is also her (sic),” she wrote on Instagram.
Explaining why she had decided to share the initiative publicly, Rashmika added, “I would always keep doing things like this for all the love that you give me. But always kept it under the wraps because I thought if I knew and just my team knew and just a bunch of us knew, it was enough. But now I am opening up about this because I am thinking, if this could influence you lovelies out there to do anything like this, I would be happy (sic).”

Rashmika also urged her followers to contribute in whatever way they could, stressing that acts of kindness did not have to be large to make a difference.
“Even a small act of kindness can change a person's life, and it doesn't have to be big. Let's all start with something small!” she wrote.
Reflecting on the effort and challenges that have come with her career, the actor said seeing the families' smiles made the experience worthwhile.
“And trust me all these smiles are worth every sleepless nights, the injuries, the struggles, the pain the tears the everything that I've gone had to go through over the last working years. This is priceless!! (sic)” she added.
She also shared a list of grocery items that she will donate as part of this drive.
