  • Mrunal Thakur hasn’t signed any film in nine months
  • She awaits a meaningful role and story to connect with
  • Raaka is Atlee's next big project starring Allu Arjun

Actor Mrunal Thakur's name has been doing the rounds for filmmaker Atlee's Raaka, but she has offered no confirmation of her involvement. Instead, she's revealed that she hasn't signed a film in nearly nine months, explaining that she's waiting for a role and story she truly connects with.

Speaking to Mid-Day, Mrunal made it clear that the break hasn't been for lack of offers. "I haven't signed any film in almost nine months. I am waiting for a meaningful role to come my way," she said. She added, "I am at the top of offers. But I don't resonate with the stories that are being made."

For the actor, who is busy promoting her latest release Pooja Meri Jaan, choosing a film is about more than keeping busy. With a project potentially requiring around 120 days of shooting, she wants the role to offer creative satisfaction and give her the chance to deliver a performance audiences will remember. She also said she'll share details of her next project through an announcement on social media, rather than fuel speculation before then.

Raaka is Atlee’s next major project and is being mounted as an ambitious international action drama. The film stars Allu Arjun in the lead, with Deepika Padukone and Keerthy Suresh also part of the cast. The project marks Atlee’s first collaboration with Allu Arjun and is being produced on a large scale.

Raaka is likely to be made in two parts, with the first part likely to hit theatres in 2027.

The film has made headlines for another reason, too. Raaka recently set a world record for the most people motion-captured in real time, with 37 performers captured simultaneously in a single session.

For now, Mrunal's comments offer no confirmation of a role in Raaka.
