Karuppu, which also stars Trisha Krishnan, had been scheduled to release on May 14 but did not open as planned due to last-minute financial complications. The delay led to cancelled screenings across Tamil Nadu, with several theatres pulling down shows after midnight, leaving fans confused despite strong advance bookings.

However, the situation was resolved overnight, and Karuppu finally released on Friday to packed theatres and a strong response. Morning shows across Tamil Nadu saw celebratory scenes, with fans turning up in large numbers.

In Chennai, RJ Balaji, Trisha and Karthi joined audiences at a theatre, adding to the release-day energy. The team later thanked fans for standing by the film through the delay.

Despite a disrupted rollout, Karuppu managed to find its footing at the box office – backed not just by fan enthusiasm, but also by voices from the industry.
