Prabhas' Fauzi postponed from December, makers yet to set new release date

Prabhas' Fauzi, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, has been postponed from its December 3 release date. The period drama is now expected to arrive in 2027, though the makers are yet to announce a new date.

Prabhas-starrer Fauzi, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, has been postponed from its scheduled release date of December 3, 2026. The makers have confirmed that the period drama has been postponed, though a new release date is yet to be announced.

The delay was confirmed by producer Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers during the pre-release event of Nani’s upcoming film The Paradise on September 21. He said the film was being pushed slightly and added that the additional time would be used to complete the large-scale project.

“Fauzi is being pushed a little bit, but it's a next-level movie. You haven't seen Prabhas look so grand since Baahubali. It's a movie of that scale. However, I am sorry that we are pushing it (release date) a bit further. You will cherish it for a lifetime. It's such a massive and great movie,” Ravi Shankar said.

Fauzi was earlier scheduled to release in theatres on December 3. The film was expected to face competition from Naga Chaitanya’s Vrushakarma and Dulquer Salmaan’s Sri Sri, both of which are slated to release on December 4, 2026. With the Prabhas-starrer now postponed, reports have suggested that the film could arrive in 2027.

Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, Fauzi marks his follow-up to the critically acclaimed romantic drama Sita Ramam. The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, while Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series Films is presenting the project.

The cast includes Imanvi Esmail, Sajjad Delafrooz, Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher alongside Prabhas. The period drama has generated considerable interest for its cast, director and reported scale. It also marks Prabhas’ return to a period setting after a string of big-budget projects in recent years.

Prabhas has had several major releases in the past few years. Following Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire in 2023 and Kalki 2898 AD in 2024, the actor was seen in The Raja Saab this year. Directed by Maruthi, the horror comedy received negative reactions from audiences and critics and collected a little over Rs 200 crore worldwide.

Apart from Fauzi, Prabhas is also set to star in Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featuring Triptii Dimri. The film is currently scheduled to release in March 2027.

For now, Fauzi remains postponed without a new release date. The makers are expected to announce its revised release date once the film’s post-production work is complete.
