Veteran Gujarati actor, director and theatre stalwart Arvind Vekaria, father of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Tanmay Vekaria, died on Wednesday.
The Cine and TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA) confirmed the news on social media and paid tribute to the veteran artiste, expressing its condolences to his family and loved ones.
"#cintaaexpresses its condolences on the demise of senior actor and theatre personality Mr. Arvind Vekaria #cintaa #condolence #restinpeace #rip," the association wrote in its post.
The tragedy comes barely eight months after Tanmay Vekaria lost his mother, making it an especially difficult period for the actor and his family.
Tanmay's mother died in October 2025,and the actor had recently spoken about her with emotion on the sets of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. With the death of his father now, Tanmay is coping with yet another profound personal loss in a short span of time.

A respected figure in the Gujarati performing arts, Arvind Vekaria enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an actor, director and stage artiste. He was known for his dedication to theatre and was widely admired by audiences and colleagues alike. For those unfamiliar, Arvind Vekaria also made a memorable appearance in the popular sitcom. In one of the show's episodes, he played a jeweller during a storyline in whichAtmaram Bhide (Mandar Chandwadkar), struggling with financial difficulties, decides to mortgage his wife Madhavi's jewellery. It was Arvind's character who evaluated the ornaments, making for a special on-screen moment for fans.
