Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) President BN Tiwari has confirmed that a fire broke out on the set of actor Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana in Mumbai, though he said the incident was minor and did not cause any injuries. He said the fire started in one of the tents outside the studio and was brought under control before it could spread or threaten the set or those present.

Tiwari said the incident took place despite a recent warning issued to producers after a fire at a nearby location. He said the damage was minor, no one was hurt, and shooting resumed after the initial panic subsided at Prime Focus Studios, where the film and other productions are being shot.

Speaking to India Today, Tiwari said, "A few days ago, there was a fire incident at a nearby location, following which we reached out to all producers and asked them to ensure that proper safety measures were in place. However, due to carelessness, this fire incident happened on the set. Fortunately, no one was hurt and the damage was also minor. However, this should serve as a warning to them and other film teams to be more careful and take adequate precautions against such accidents."

He said the fire broke out in the tents outside the studio premises. Apart from Ramayana, the television shows Hustle and Pati Patni Panga are also being shot in the same vicinity at Prime Focus Studios. According to Tiwari, the fire was contained before it could spread further.

Film’s release plans announced

The incident comes at a time when the makers of the film have officially unveiled the subtitle of its first instalment, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. Through a new poster, the producers also announced that the film will release in theatres worldwide on November 6 in Hindi and English.

The poster features Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama facing Yash’s Ravana against a cosmic backdrop, along with the tagline, "Mankind’s greatest story comes to life." The makers have also said the film is intended to offer an immersive 3D theatrical experience across standard screens, IMAX and Premium Large Formats.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film also stars Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Ravie Dubey as Laxman, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Arun Govil as King Dashrath and Rakul Preet Singh as Suparnakha.
