  • Female-led Telugu film signals strong commercial interest

Much-awaited Samantha Ruth Prabhu-starrer Maa Inti Bangaram, which is set to release on June 19, has recovered its full investment days before reaching theatres. Producer Himank Duvvuru of Tralala Moving Pictures confirmed the news in a press statement, addressing a strong start for the film ahead of Samantha’s return to the big screen three years after Kushi in 2023.

According to industry reports, the budget for the action-drama is estimated between Rs 25 crore to Rs 30 crore.

The film’s team said the recovery was driven by strong demand for both theatrical and non-theatrical rights. In a press release, they said interest from buyers across territories and platforms remained steady and competitive, with all deals finalised and closed before the film’s release this week.

Commenting on the deal, the makers said, “For a female-led Telugu film in the current market, this is a strong commercial signal. The rights were packaged early, buyers were engaged well in advance, and every deal was closed with the intention of making it successful together with our distributors and buyers. We hope to keep up the faith they have shown in our movie.”

Himank described the response as gratifying and said, “Recovering our full investment before the film even hits screens is a testament to the belief the market has placed in Maa Inti Bangaaram. For a female-led Telugu film, this kind of response from buyers across territories and platforms is truly gratifying.”

He added that Tralala Moving Pictures had backed the story of Maa Inti Bangaram and Samantha’s “powerhouse presence”, saying, “To see that conviction reflected commercially means everything.”

Director Nandini Reddy also spoke about the film at a recent event. She said, “I have done three films with Sam (Jabardasth in 2013, Oh! Baby in 2019 and Maa Inti Bangaram in 2026). Out of those, she brought two of them to me. She brought it with trust in me; I hope I have lived up to it. You will all see the Sam you like, times 10, on June 19. That’s a promise.”

Maa Inti Bangaram marks Samantha’s return to cinemas after her 2023 releases Shaakunthalam and Kushi. In 2024, she starred alongside Varun Dhawan in Raj & DK’s Prime Video series Citadel: Honey Bunny. In 2025, she also made a cameo appearance in Subham, which she produced.

The upcoming film is created by director and her husband Raj Nidimoru, directed by Nandini, and produced by Raj, Samantha and Himank under the banner of Tralala Moving Pictures. Vasanth Maringanti co-wrote the film with Raj, while Prahas Boppudi worked on the additional screenplay.

With its full investment already recovered ahead of release, Maa Inti Bangaram heads into June 19 eyeing profits.
