  • The court has not yet ruled on her seven-day request
  • Judge Lewis Liman recently examined damages tied to Baldoni's dismissed defamation suit

Blake Lively has asked a court to grant her additional time in the ongoing dispute over legal fees linked to her legal battle with Justin Baldoni. According to a filing submitted ahead of the June 22 deadline, the actor requested an extension of at least seven days to prepare her initial brief detailing the amount she believes is owed.

Lively's legal team said her schedule would make it difficult to complete the submission on time and that additional time was needed to review and approve billing records. The court has not yet ruled on the request, meaning the disagreement over legal costs remains unresolved despite the pair settling their wider legal dispute earlier this year.

Why is Blake Lively asking for an extension?

In a letter filed with the court, Lively's attorneys argued that more time is required to review billing submissions connected to the case. The filing relates specifically to legal fees that Lively is seeking following the dismissal of Baldoni's $400 million defamation countersuit.

The request comes as the court continues to determine the exact amount of fees and costs that may be awarded.

What did the court previously decide?

Earlier this month, Lively returned to court in connection with damages tied to Baldoni's defamation lawsuit, which was dismissed in November 2025. Judge Lewis Liman ruled that Baldoni must cover part of the legal fees Lively incurred while defending against the countersuit.

However, the final amount remains under review. The court also determined that any payment would be made by Baldoni's production company, Wayfarer Studios, rather than by Baldoni personally.

What happened to the wider lawsuit?

Lively and Baldoni settled their broader legal dispute in May. Lively had accused the filmmaker and actor of sexual harassment during the production of It Ends With Us. While the parties reached a settlement, its full terms were not disclosed publicly and neither side received a financial payout.

Since the settlement, Lively has returned to the public spotlight, appearing at events including the 2026 Met Gala and luxury fashion gatherings in New York City. Baldoni was most recently seen in Nashville shortly after the settlement was finalised.

For now, the court must decide whether to grant Lively's request for extra time, with the legal fees dispute continuing as the final unresolved chapter in the high-profile case.
