Veteran actor Saurabh Shukla, who recently impressed audiences with his directorial debut Jab Khuli Kitaab, is set to reunite with Shah Rukh Khan for the upcoming action film King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The two actors previously shared screen space in Baadshah, a film that has since gained cult status.
In a recent interview, Shukla spoke about his experiences working with Shah Rukh Khan, offering insights into the superstar's personality and professional approach. He highlighted Khan's sharp business acumen and his ability to build and sustain a significant presence in the film industry.
Reflecting on their early collaboration in Baadshah, Shukla described Shah Rukh as a rising star with a keen mind. He noted that while their interactions were limited at the time, he has since observed Khan's growth into a shrewd businessman who has successfully created and managed an extensive professional network.
Shukla also praised Shah Rukh's interpersonal skills, emphasising how the actor never lets his status overshadow others. He said that Khan gives his full attention during conversations, making people feel valued and heard. This quality, Shukla confessed, is something he admires and finds rare.
The senior actor further discussed Shah Rukh Khan's role as a father on the King set, where the superstar will appear alongside his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time. Shukla described Khan as a wise father who grants his children freedom and respects their voices, balancing protectiveness with trust.
Shukla observed that on set, Shah Rukh interacted with Suhana as a colleague rather than a parent, rehearsing and offering suggestions in a professional manner. This approach, he said, reflects Khan's supportive and collaborative nature.
King also features Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal, Abhay Verma, and Rani Mukerji. The film is scheduled for release on December 24.
