A representative of actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna has filed a formal complaint with the Cyber Crime authorities in Hyderabad, seeking an investigation into allegedly false and misleading online content targeting them after their appearance on Koffee with Karan.

The complaint alleges that fabricated content, manipulated screenshots, impersonation and targeted harassment involving the actors have been circulating on social media platforms. Their team has reportedly submitted supporting links and evidence to the authorities for examination.

According to a press note issued by the actors’ team, the complaint was submitted by P Nishanth Kumar, who was identified in the document as the manager of both actors.

The team said the action was not intended to curb freedom of speech or genuine criticism. It said the complaint sought accountability for demonstrably false information and potentially unlawful online conduct.

The team also urged social media users not to spread unverified claims and said appropriate legal remedies would be pursued wherever warranted. The authorities have been asked to examine the submitted material and investigate the alleged false narratives and online harassment.

Why are Vijay and Rashmika being trolled?

The controversy began after Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna discussed their relationship on the second episode of Karan Johar-hosted Koffee With Karan 9. Rashmika recalled telling Vijay, "Let’s get married," at an airport, to which he replied, "Okay, you ask me 100 times." She later revealed that she had asked him for an entire year.

While Vijay explained that he wanted them to take their time before making such a big decision, several viewers felt his remarks made Rashmika’s feelings look one-sided. Social media users subsequently labelled him a "red flag", with some accusing him of disrespecting his wife.

On October 26, the couple responded to the backlash through separate social media posts. Rashmika defended their relationship, saying she would choose Vijay a thousand times over, while Vijay described their marriage as “gloriously happy” and urged critics to keep their opinions to themselves.
