Ramayana: Ranbir-Sai Pallavi bring rare stillness to the epic's new motion poster

The makers of Ramayana: Part 1 unveiled the film's first motion poster on Ganesh Chaturthi, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Siya.

Ramayana: Part 1 has unveiled a new addition to its promotions. On Ganesh Chaturthi, the makers released the film’s first motion poster, featuring Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi’s Sita in a quiet moment by the river. The trailer had already introduced the two actors as the epic’s central pair, but the new poster shifts focus to the softer bond between Ram and Siya.

The motion poster, shared on YouTube, Instagram and X, opens against a lush forest with a clear river flowing through it. Ram and Sita are seated together on a moss-covered rock by the water. Dressed in traditional attire, Ram gently places a pink flower in Sita’s hair as she smiles.

The title Ramayana appears in ornate golden lettering, along with the tagline, ‘Our Truth. Our History.’ The poster also confirms the worldwide theatrical release of Ramayana: Part 1 during Diwali 2026.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the epic is being planned as a two-part film. The first instalment will release on November 6, 2026, while the second part is expected to arrive in October 2027.

Ranbir leads the film as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita. Ravi Dubey plays Lakshmana, while Arun Govil, who famously portrayed Ram in the 1990s television series, will be seen as King Dasharatha. Yash takes on the role of Ravan, with Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha.

The scale of the project has been one of its biggest talking points even before its release. Ramayana is reportedly being made on a budget of around Rs 4,000 crore, with Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman handling the music. DNEG and Prime Focus are also among the teams working on its visual effects.

The trailer, released earlier, had already given audiences a glimpse of the film’s larger world and its sprawling cast. The new motion poster takes a different route. There are no battles or elaborate set pieces here. Instead, it lingers on a small gesture between Ram and Sita, allowing the relationship at the heart of the epic to take centre stage.

With the motion poster now out, the promotional campaign for Ramayana: Part 1 is gathering pace.
