Suicide attempt briefly disrupts Kolkata metro services at Kalighat Station

Kolkata: Train services along Kolkata metro’s blue line had a brief disruption on Saturday morning following an alleged suicide attempt by a person at kalighat metro station.

According to officials, a person allegedly jumped onto the tracks around 7:20 am.

Metro authorities promptly initiated truncated services between Maidan and Dakshineswar and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Shahid Khudiram stations.

The person was swiftly rescued by Metro staff and a team of emergency response personnel.

Normal services on the blue line were resumed at around 7.44 am, shortly after the mandatory safety inspections were completed post the rescue operation, which took about 25 minutes.

Metro officials said this interruption was necessary to ensure the safety of all passengers. The condition of the person who jumped was not immediately known.
