Mumbai: Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has asked social media users to respect the personal space of her and her long-time cook, Dilip Mukhiya, after a video clip surfaced online purportedly showing a tiff between them.
Addressing the growing speculation, Farah asked viewers not to jump to conclusions based on a brief clip. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “Guys, please respect Dilip and my privacy. Do not jump to any conclusion,” with folded-hands emoji.
In the short video, Dilip says to Farah, “Maine kitni baar aapko bola hai”, and she responds, “Tu mujhe samjhaega”. There seems to be hostility in this. But the video stops with Farah saying that someone is filming them and asking him to switch off the camera.
The video has brought social media users into a debate over the spatial difference between the director and her household worker.

Now a popular face in the world of consumers, Dilip was introduced to the audience through Farah’s YouTube cooking vlogs from 2024 onwards.
Their playful banter in the kitchen and witty banter have been a constant feature in the videos along with some Bollywood celebrities. Over a period of time, Dilip has garnered a sizeable social media following and has landed gigs through endorsements and advertisements.
During an interaction with Soha Ali Khan, Farah also mentioned how Dilip’s life changed after appearing in her vlogs. “He also earned a lot more, and his work is more than he ever used to get. I pay for his children’s education, and one of his sons is doing a diploma course in culinary,” she had said.
This new appeal from Farah comes as online speculation continues to spread across the internet, with the director asking that people give them space and not try to guess what an incomplete video is.
