Bhubaneswar: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Director Madhusmita Sahu announced that while current textbooks have been supplied, teachers will correct mistakes in classrooms, and the revised and error-free editions will be provided to students next year.

According to the SCERT Director, no new books will be printed for school students in the current academic year. Students will study in revised textbooks. The mistakes in the previous books have been corrected and sent to schools through a special booklet, she informed.

The SCERT Director’s announcement came comes following the recent discovery of over 1,600 factual, conceptual, and printing errors in newly published school textbooks for Classes 1 to 8 across the state.

Meanwhile, schools have opened from today but students are forced to read the faulty books. Seeing the seriousness of the problem in the textbooks, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi himself has ordered to form a three-member high-level committee to review and find out how the mistakes occurred and take action against the officials and institutions who were responsible.
