Veteran Tamil filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj passes away at 73

Mumbai: The Tamil film industry is shocked after legendary director, actor, and screenwriter K. Bhagyaraj passed away of cardiac arrest on Saturday morning in Chennai.
Bhagyaraj, a versatile writer and director, had complained of chest pain in the early hours and rushed to a private hospital, where he was declared dead.
Fondly called the Screenplay King for his exceptional screenwriting skills and relatable family dramas.
The celebrated storyteller directed over 25 films and starred in over 75 films.
He made his debut as a writer under filmmaker Bharathiraja, after which he became one of the greatest writers of Tamil cinema.

Some of his creations are ‘Mundhanai Mudichu,’ ‘Andha 7 Naatkal,’ ‘Chinna Veedu,’ and ‘Sundara Kandam.’
Bhagyaraj, who last acted in a K.S. Ravi Kumar’s action-thriller, ‘Muthukumar’s S2,’ succumbed to a heart attack merely weeks after the death of his mentor Bharathiraja.
He is survived by his wife, actress Poornima Bhagyaraj, and their children, actor Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Saranya Bhagyaraj.
Condolences have been flooding in from the Indian Film Fraternity.
