5 OTT releases to binge-watch this weekend

As the Internet reaches every nook and corner, our viewership choices also have shifted from dramatic daily soap operas to binge watching web-series and online shows. Here are some recent OTT releases to binge watch over the weekend.

  1. Vijay 69

Releasing on Netflix, starring Anupan Kher, Chunky Pandey and Mihir Ahuja in titular roles, vijay 69 is the story a 69-year-old Vijay who was a former National level swimmer, aspiring to participate in a triathlon of games including swimming, cycling and running. Vijay willing to achieve something keeping aside his boring 60s life takes a dig at everyone who laugh at him for taking part in the triathlon. His journey of working hard and failing makes the plot of the film.

  1. Freedom at Midnight

The historical drama with the star cast Sidhant Gupta, Chirag Vohra, Rajendra Chawla, Arif Xakaria, is adapted from the book of the same name by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins revolving around the partition of India and Pakistan. The series streaming from November 15 transports you to the historical timeline with the costumes and screenplay. The feelings- anguish, happiness, sorrow of the leaders and the masses is beautifully portrayed in the series. It will release on SonyLIV

  1. Paithani

Helmed for November 15 release, on Zee5, the web-series depicts a handloom weaver, Godavari, who has weaved Paitahani sarees throughout her life. Due to old age and poor eye-sight she has to retire from weaving. As she retires, she expresses her grief of not having worn a Paithani saree, ever in her life. Her daughter takes on a mission to gift her an exquisite and expensive Paithani saree worth lakhs of rupees.

  1. Citadel Honey Bunny

Based a spy thriller, Bunny, a stuntman hires Honey as a side gig but their plan goes otherwise and how they struggle to put things in place is the plot of the story. Released on Amazon Prime Video, the Varun Dhawan starrer has a passionate lip-lock between him and leading actress Samantha. It released on Netflix.

  1. Kishkindha Kaandam

After its successful theatrical release, the Malayalam movie is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar. It revolves around a father and son and his newly married wife. Hell breaks lose when the newly wed searches for a missing child and how she discovers a hidden truth the father-son duo has been trying to hide since years.
