Ganjam: Even as residents of Ganjam were struggling to recover from the devastation caused by Cyclone Arnab, Cyclone Murasu brought fresh misery, triggering severe flooding in several areas.
With floodwaters inundating homes and disrupting normal life, more than 1.5 lakh people from low-lying areas are still staying in relief shelters.
The administration has made arrangements to provide food to the affected people. While cooked meals are being distributed in some relief centres, dry food packets are being supplied in others.
Berhampur city and several other parts of the district have been affected by the floods. Aska town has been particularly hit, with large areas remaining waterlogged. The district administration has shifted its focus to the situation in Aska, with the District Collector personally visiting affected areas to assess the ground situation.

Although electricity supply has been restored in Aska and other parts of Ganjam district, residents continue to experience intermittent power disruptions.
Meanwhile, drinking water is being supplied to affected communities through tankers to address the shortage caused by the floods.
In another development, residents of Nalabanta village in Aska staged a road blockade, alleging that they had not received flood relief assistance. The protest disrupted traffic movement between Aska and Berhampur, causing inconvenience to commuters.
The situation remains challenging for flood-affected families as relief and rehabilitation efforts continue across the district.
