Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has received an audio threat of extortion by an individual who has claimed to be a Lawrence Bishnoi gang member.

The person had reportedly asked for crores of rupees from the actor following which the Mumbai Police filed a complaint and further investigated to know the accused’s details.

Mumbai Police source says the investigators are trying to trace the threatening audio clip and also matching the voice of the sender with police records of a person of the same name.

But it is still not confirmed whether the attacker is the real member of the gang or just using their name to instil fear in the actor.

It comes a day after Bollywood star Tusshar Kapoor was reportedly also threatened with the same gang asking him Rs 5 crore.

Initial attempts to match the voice of the caller in Kapoor’s case did not yield any results, suggesting that it was possibly a hoax, the police say. They are also trying to find out whether the two cases are linked.

The latest threat has renewed concerns over the security of Bollywood personalities following the recent firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai.

Investigators are working to identify those behind the threatening messages and establish whether the threats are genuine or attempts to create panic within the film industry.
