Mumbai: Bobby Deol’s latest, Bandar, shows a small jump at the ticket windows on Day 2, and this may have brought in some good news for the makers, even though it’s up against competition from a number of big and small releases.

Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film is gaining praise from audiences and critics alike for the performances in it, especially Bobby Deol.

As per early trade estimates, Bandar has raked in about 95 lakh at the box office on Day 2. This marks a significant jump from its opening day collection of around 50 lakh. The Indian net collection of the film is about 1.45 crore after 2 days.

Despite showing a jump, the film is still struggling to pull in a significant number of people to the cinemas. The competition from Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Peddi may also be taking away a good share of the audience.

But it seems that positive word of mouth for the film may just turn things around. People and critics have been hailing Bobby Deol’s performance as one of the best in his career, with his storytelling being lauded even further by viewers. Supporters of the film believe this may be the element that takes the film to a better place.

It will be quite interesting to see how Bandar performs in the coming week, as its box office potential might rely more on audience word of mouth than on a grand opening.

While the numbers are not significant as of yet, the makers would surely be hoping that critical appreciation will turn into audience appreciation.
