Independent movie
by Y Maheswara Reddy · Bangalore MirrorMeet Pinaki Janardhan, who has handled the megaphone for an independent movie House of Manikanta. The movie’s shooting was held at Kanteerava Studios for 10 days.
“House of Manikanta is a survival drama. I came across an image of a haunted house while working as associate director. I thought of making a movie based on the image of the house. I wrote the script for the movie but could not get the support from well-known producers in Sandalwood. With no one evincing interest to bankroll it, I raised funds with the help of my family members and well-wishers. I am planning to release the movie on an OTT platform,’’ said Pinaki.
He said a major portion of the funds was spent on putting up the set of a haunted house at Kanteerava Studios. “The haunted house is the hero of the movie. The shooting was held for 12 hours per day,’’ he said, adding that Govinde Gowda, who is known for playing the comedian or hero’s sidekick in Kannada movies, has played a different role in this film.
The director said the lack of support from the producers in Sandalwood made him become an independent director and producer for the movie. “The film revolves around the incidents that take place in three to four hours at a haunted house,’’ he said.
