Kannada Movie Review-Dhruvathaare: A moving love story

by · Bangalore Mirror

Pratheek, who has worked as an editor for a few Kannada movies, has selected a good script that can melt viewers’ hearts, for his directorial. Pratheek has also written the script for the movie, edited it and he also plays the lead.

The movie begins with Apoorva aka Appu (Moulya Shree) getting chided by her mother (Prabhavathi) for being lazy. The movie revolves around Apoorva, who is trying to keep her ex-boyfriend Sanjay (Karthik Mahesh) at an arm’s length, and Parivarthan aka Pari (Pratheek), who is scared due to a failed relationship with Samyama (Sangeetha Narayan).

In a peculiar situation, Apoorva happens to meet Parivarthan. She initially hates him for being drunk, but later becomes close to him. Later they get married but Apoorva is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. What happens to her is what the movie Dhruvathaare is all about.

Pratheek has handled the megaphone with aplomb. He is convincing as a heart-broken young man and an affectionate husband. He has to impr
ove his dialogue delivery though. Moulya Shree walks away with all honours for her sterling performance. Her acting in the climax makes audiences sympathise with her character. Veteran character artiste Ramesh Bhat is convincing as a doctor. Master Samay has acted well.

Music director Suraj Jois has given lilting music and Chandan Naika has done a good job behind the camera.

All in all, the movie is worth a watch for families.
