NC, BJP MLAs were together in opposing Article 370 resolution: Sajad Lone - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 04: J&K Peoples’ Conference (JKPC) president and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone on Monday said people should know that National Conference and BJP MLAs were together in opposing Article 370 resolution.

Acknowledging that he was unaware of Article 370 resolution being moved in the house, Lone said that his party will support the constitutional provision every time a resolution opposing Aug 5 move is moved in the assembly.

He said that the matter remains an open chapter for discussion and political action.

“Wherever the 370 resolution stands, we will support it. This book is not closed,” Lone told reporters outside the assembly.

Lone said that the people should know that both NC and BJP were together in opposing the move. “It was 5 versus 85,” said Lone.

He added that all the public representatives have right to raise their voice and different opinions should be respected.

In his address, Lone also criticized the government’s unfulfilled promise to prioritize Article 370 in the Governor’s address, which he noted was missing from the speech.

Referring to a campaign promise, he asserted that discussions on the issue should not be postponed, expressing disappointment in the lack of official recognition in the session’s initial agenda.

“When it was in the agenda of the parties during Assembly, why it is missing now from their actions,” he said.
