New Tata Aeris Teaser Says Stop Boring – Headlight, Taillight, Black Alloy Revealed

Aeris is essentially the Tigor facelift being launched with a new identity and feature upgrades

Tata Cars has released a new teaser, providing a glimpse of the upcoming Aeris sedan. Launch is scheduled for 25th September. Tigor is currently not listed on the official website and the recent teasers make it easy to connect the dots. Aeris will be looking to deliver better results in the entry-level sedan segment, where it will take on rivals such as Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.

Tata Aeris – Stop Boring

Tata’s latest Aeris teaser builds on its unconventional promotional campaign with the messages “Start Scoring, Stop Being Boring” and “Introducing Aeris – Defeat Boring”; suggesting a youthful positioning centred on individuality and standing out.

Similar to updates seen with other newer Tata cars, Aeris appears to be using a more contemporary design approach. In the latest teaser, projector headlamps with integrated sleek LED DRLs can be seen. In place of the chrome-finished grille of Tigor, the Aeris has a glossy black panel connecting the headlamps.

Aeris is using a new light metallic purple colour. The teaser also reveals a new design for the alloy wheels with Tata logo in the centre. At the rear, Aeris has new pixel-style tail lamps, integrating vertical and horizontal elements for a more dynamic feel. This design could support sequential turn indicator function, but it hasn’t been confirmed.

3D ‘AERIS’ lettering in a chrome finish can be seen at the rear. In earlier teasers, Aeris was seen with a new blacked-out bumper with slatted elements. The sedan is also equipped with LED fog lamps. Aeris has circular wheel arches and conventional door handles. Similar to Tigor, Aeris has a sloping roofline.

Features, performance

Inside, Tata Aeris is expected to get updates similar to that of Tiago facelift. Possibilities include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a two-spoke steering wheel and a new fully digital instrument cluster.

Aeris is also expected to get features like rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera setup, Type C charging ports and a new AC control panel. Instead of a lever, a rotary dial could be used for selecting drive modes in automatic variants.

Tech kit could also include features like a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and auto-folding ORVMs. Safety package could include features like blind view monitor, 6 airbags as standard, electronic stability program (ESP) with traction control, hill hold control, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and follow me home headlamps.

Coming to performance, Tata Aeris is expected to use the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as the Tigor. It generates 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 5-speed MT and AMT. Aeris will also be available in CNG format with a dual tank setup. Updates introduced with the Aeris will also be carried over to the EV version.
