‘Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass’ Teaser: Zoey Deutch Is on a Mission to Sleep with Jon Hamm
Sony Pictures Classics is releasing David Wain's Sundance comedy darling this summer.
by Brian Welk · IndieWireWe all have our celebrity hall pass sex list. Some couples like to go a few stars deep or will update the lists over time, but it’s really just a fun exercise rather than something anyone would realistically act on. But in the case of “Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass,” someone did, and now it’s up to Jon Hamm to put things back in order.
David Wain‘s “Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass” follows a small-town hairdresser played by Zoey Deutch who learns her fiancé has slept with someone on his sex pass, and in order to repair their impending nuptials, she sets out to cross a name off her own list: Jon Hamm. Not a bad choice if we’re being honest, and we won’t spoil whom the fiancé winds up boning from his list either.
The first teaser for the film lays out that mission, with Gail speaking with a fortune teller who knows way too well the specifics of Gail’s situation and sets her on her path forward.
The film is Wain’s first feature in years was also decreed by us to be one of the “Wet Hot American Summer” director’s funniest. Sony Pictures Classics was quick to pick up the star-studded farce after it premiered at this year’s Sundance. We described the film as a love letter to Los Angeles, but also one that is brimming with celebrity cameos that range from both the “explainable and absurd.”
We also singled out John Slattery, who also gives a “hysterically self-deprecating” performance as a fictionalized version of himself also trying to reconnect with his former “Mad Men” co-star. He also gets hit in the groin a lot in the film.
“Gail Daughtry” also stars Ken Marino, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Ben Wang, Joe Lo Truglio, and Sabrina Impacciatore. Marino also co-wrote the script with Wain, another reunion dating back to the “Wet Hot American Summer” days.
The film opens in theaters on July 10, 2026. Check out the first teaser below.
