The funeral of One Direction star Liam Payne will feature "a series of song tributes" as a testament to his love for music, according to a source. The 31 year old musician, who rose to fame on The X Factor, passed away several weeks ago in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Despite Liam's preference for a "low-key and respectful," ceremony, it is understood that his family wish to incorporate a special musical element into the service. Therefore, there will be "a series of song tributes from some very big acts" at the farewell, which is expected to take place in Liam's hometown of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.

A source told Radar Online: "His family want to keep his farewell low-key and respectful, as it's what Liam would have wanted as he was so down to earth. But there are going to be a series of song tributes from some very big acts as he loved singing and making music until the end."

The insider also revealed that the funeral will be attended by numerous A-list celebrities due to Liam's popularity within the showbiz community. Fans have already begun paying their respects outside St. Peter's Collegiate Church in central Wolverhampton, with flowers and handwritten messages seen next to the Lady Wulfrun statue.

Last month, a candlelit vigil was held for Liam outside his former school, St Peter's Collegiate Academy, near the Newbridge area of the city, reports the Mirror. Liam was staying at the Casa Sur hotel in Argentina when tragedy struck. It is thought he fell from a third-floor balcony in a devastating accident.

Argentine broadcast journalist Paula Varela revealed: "There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically because of where he is, falls from that balcony. If he had been beside his bed he would have fallen on his bed."

Liam had travelled to Argentina to support his former bandmate Niall Horan on tour and had even watched him perform live. A duet with musician Sam Pounds, titled Do No Wrong, had been due for release on November 1, but the posthumous single was put on hold.
