BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks' performance leaves I'm A Celeb winner looking 'enthralled'

But some Strictly Come Dancing viewers accused I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here winner Sam Thompson of not being 'into the show' as he sat in the audience to support his friend Pete Wicks

Pete Wicks, former star of The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), has been seen expressing his love as his recent support in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom faced criticism. His latest performance, which saw him don an animal-print loincloth, left viewers 'wheezing'.

The BBC One dance contest was celebrating Movie Week, with couples channelling their inner film stars and performing routines to songs from films such as Harry Potter, Dreamgirls, Rocketman, Mrs Doubtfire and The Little Mermaid.

In a first for Strictly, marking its 20th anniversary, Morning Live's Dr Punam Krishan and Gorka Marquez performed a couple's choice routine to Bole Chudiyan from the Bollywood film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. This marked the first time this style of dance has ever been performed on the show.

Meanwhile, Pete surprised everyone when he and Jowita Przystal performed the samba to the George Of The Jungle theme, scoring 26 out of a possible 40 points.

However, things could have been worse as, during one section of intricate footwork, it seemed as though the reality star and podcast host extended his leg too early, causing Jowita to trip. Her legs appeared to fall behind her as Pete kept her up and prevented her from falling on the floor, reports the Manchester Evening News.

This followed an incident where Pete left judge Craig Revel Horwood shocked when he began the routine by dancing with his bum right in front of Craig's face after starting his latest performance by standing atop his side of the judging podium.

Pete's best mate and podcast sidekick, Sam Thompson, was spotted in the Strictly ballroom, eagerly cheering on Pete. After a clip of Pete and Jowitas latest dance was posted on Strictly's social media platforms, Sam expressed his excitement, exclaiming: "Peter....James.....Johnathan....joseph.....Wicks! Everyone! ! ! " to which Pete responded with affection: "love you mate."

However, the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here champ Sam unexpectedly faced criticism when he was captured on film failing to applaud following one of the couple's performances.

A comment from @beth. winfield highlighted the disappointment: "Unimpressed with @samthompsonuk not clapping AT ALL at the end of this routine.

It was so good, and honestly expected better from him from his nature and upbringing. Loved this dance, well done both.

@suzy2062 chimed in noting: "I noticed that too. Just there to watch his friend not into the show."

Meanwhile, @StrictlyGossip observed: "Sam Thompson sitting not clapping Wynne was a bit strange. Share the love and positivity #Strictly."

However, defending Sam, @thepinktribble suggested: "Knowing him he was probably off in his own world by then. I don't think for a minute that he had any ill intent."

And @hannah_leotaa jokingly commented: "Sam Thompson looks enthralled! Hahaha love him #strictly #strictlycomedancing."
