Mark Hamill says 'sorry' over posting fake Trump photo but there's twist

It is rare to see Mark Hamill back down. He has an outspoken nature, which makes him blunt, not out of convenience but conviction.

However, there was uproar over his recent tweet showing an AI-generated image of President Trump dead with a gravestone surrounded by flowers.

It was, for some, a step too far. 

So, in a follow-up post on the social media platform Bluesky, the Star Wars actor apologised, but with a twist.

He writes, “Accurate Edit for Clarity: ‘He should live long enough to… be held accountable for his… crimes.’ Actually, I was wishing him the opposite of dead."

However, the star pens, "but apologise if you found the image inappropriate.”

This comes after a firestorm was sparked by supporters of President Trump; even the White House weighed in, slamming Hamil for what it called a "sick" post.

“@MarkHamill is one sick individual. These radical left lunatics just can’t help themselves. This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our President.”

Hamill's original post read, "If Only – He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, be impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realise he’ll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore. don_TheCON."
