The Live-Action Zelda Movie Is Coming To Netflix
Following its "theatrical and home entertainment release periods"
by Damien McFerran · Nintendo LifeThe live-action Legend of Zelda movie will be streamed exclusively on Netflix following its "theatrical and home entertainment release periods", Famitsu is reporting.
Under an agreement with Sony Pictures Entertainment, the adaptation will join the likes of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, The Nightingale and the Beatles' four-part film series by shifting to the streaming platform.
The wording of this agreement suggests the movie will be available for physical and digital purchase following its cinema run, before moving exclusively to Netflix's subscription-based streaming platform.
The movie is a co-production with Nintendo and is scheduled for global release on May 7th, 2027.

The headline was immediately worrisome to me but confirmation of the theatrical AND home media releases puts me at ease.
I guess this is good for exposure. Would have been better to wait until after the movie already had its theatrical release to announce this imo.

The title of the post made me panic a bit, ngl
Thought it was skipping cinemas and going straight to Netflix, like Sony previously did for KPop Demon Hunters. But most Sony movies have been going to Netflix after their theatrical runs and physical home video releases.
This also extends to Sony Pictures Classics titles and A24 films that Sony released internationally through Stage 6 Films such as I Saw the TV Glow, Bring Her Back, and Materialists.

Netflix is getting desperate at this point. They know they've sucked for years now.
Way better than Paramount+

I almost crapped my pants...
I'm guessing it happens after the movie is out in cinemas and it finishes. It seems like Netflix is more desperate to get these exclusives though... it is worrisome. I wonder why they would release this now. Wouldn't people just wait for streaming than theatres. Did Nintendo just shoot themself in the foot, or no?
