Friends Of Te Papa Join Global Event

Friends of Te Papa are celebrating World Day of Friends of Museums next month – the first time the global event has been held.

On Sunday October 11, Museums around the world are holding events under the theme, “Your Museums, Our Passion”.

At the Icon Room in Te Papa, Friends are running a photography competition for budding photographers to capture their favourite place and/or object at Te Papa. Also, Friends of Te Papa will be taking part in Hidden Corners – a guided tour to the Museum’s engine rooms. This is an exclusive opportunity for Friends to go behind the scenes. Wellington’s amazing Faultline Chorus will perform for an hour at 1pm.

President Mazz Scannell said the World Day is both a celebration and way to showcase how Friends of Te Papa support the Museum and what’s on offer for members.

“Friends have access to a diverse and engaging range of events including high profile guest speakers, back of house tours and previews of upcoming exhibitions.”
