Loewe’s Fall 2026 Collection Inspired by Cosima Von Bonin’s Sea Creatures Lands in Stores

German artist Cosima von Bonin’s whimsical and kooky sea creatures have sat on school desk chairs and leaned across museum floors, but in March, her creations made it to Paris Fashion Week to sit on the front row at Loewe’s runway show, the second by creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. 

Now, those plush octopi, sea lions, whales, and pearl shells that shared prime seating with the likes of Sissy Spacek, Julia Garner, and Lil Yachty have landed in the Loewe stores along with the brand’s fall 2026 collection, which is also inspired by the artist’s work.

McCollough and Hernandez’s collection took accents from von Bonin’s work such as the exaggeration of size and the pops of color that feature in her work, which also often features plush animals. The co-creative directors even included a plush creature in one of their designs, a white halter-neck dress that could be a swan or an American white ibis. “I’m an impostress with some neat skills; Jack & Lazaro have worked around that in such a cool way,” von Bonin told ARTnews in an email about the collaboration.

Of collaborating with the Spanish fashion house, known for its leather goods, von Bonin said, “It’s insane what the masters in Madrid are capable of doing with leather, truly crazy. Mr. Guzmán has been with Loewe for 51 years and now teaches at the company’s own factory school, with the beautiful name Escuela Loewe. The repair studio brings bags back to life with remarkable precision; I was completely blown away by the level of craftsmanship.”

Loewe, a LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned brand, has never shied away from teaming up with artists and borrowing from the art world. Jonathan Anderson, now creative director at Dior, joined Loewe in September 2013 and brought a host of artists and art-inspired collections to the brand including Italian artist Lara Favaretto, painter Richard Hawkins, and sculptor Lynda Benglis, who unveiled six large-scale bronze pieces of work at Loewe’s spring 2024 show. The brand’s spring 2025 collection featured a T-shirt using a portrait of classical composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart that was painted by Barbara Krafft.

Since McCollough and Hernandez joined Loewe in April 2025, they have continued the brand’s affiliation with the art world.
