Staud Spring 2027: Living in the Slash

“We’re describing it as living in the slash, the spaces in between. That up/down, east/west, here/there, then/now,” Sarah Staudigner described of her eclectic, unpretentious and concise spring collection. Each stood for different relations to dressing throughout the spring season.

The first was about how she approached day versus eveningwear, mixing the two up for either occasion, exemplified through a white strapless duchess satin gown, worn with raffia hat, zebra Port tote bag and sandals. The other slashes addressed the places in between, the realistic extreme changes of weather and the hand-feel and novelty, dotted throughout with nostalgic macramé and beading.

“There’s no rules,” Staudinger said of the culmination of mixed-up looks, continuing with a standout skirt and strapless top crafted in patchwork beading that reflected all of spring’s prints and a cheerful green duchess satin skirt, classic white tank and sandals, styled in mismatched colorways, and “Leonard the lizard” beaded handbag.

The approach worked through a mix of styles in bright hues and new playful prints on styles that could go anywhere. Beach, city, mountain? No problem here with Staudinger’s easy linen dresses, tulle crochet macramé-hemmed layers, a striking black stretch leather dress, oversize Maude weekender handbags, tonal jacquard rayon damask pull-on pants and tailored lady jackets. Also, cool new rubberized thong sandals with leather soles and color-contrasting heels; collaborative printed Moonboots, and sportif jackets, which stood out via a worn ivory leather moto style atop a blue ombre suede skirt. They played into the “Glam gorp energy,” she said, which bridged femininity, athleticism and relaxed glam into ample head-to-toe optimistic dress.
