Presley Gerber, Model Son of Cindy Crawford, Dies at 27

Presley Gerber, the model son of Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at 27.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that Gerber died Sunday while at a rehab facility, but did not detail the cause of death, according to media reports.

Born in 1999, Gerber started a modeling career at age 16, walking the Moschino resort 2017 runway show held in Los Angeles in 2016 by then-creative director Jeremy Scott. He had followed in the footsteps of his supermodel mother and would be followed by his sister, Kaia.

He was signed by DNA Model Management and went on to walk runway shows for brands including Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, and Dolce & Gabbana. He appeared in high profile campaigns for Calvin Klein, Omega, and Celine, becoming the face of its Eau de Californie fragrance.

Based in Malibu and described as an avid surfer and skater, Gerber had opened up about his mental health struggles and drug use in recent years. He worked with charities including “A Sense of Home,” which helps youth aging out of foster care to settle, and ran his own “Mental Health Mondays” initiative, a series dedicated to raising awareness about mental health, promoting wellness, and addressing addiction.

He is survived by his mother, father and sister Kaia.

“I’m completely heartbroken. I still can’t believe this is real. Presley, you were such a beautiful soul. So sweet, sensitive, kind and genuine. I cared about you so much, and I’m going to miss you more than words can say,” socialite Paris Hilton wrote in a tribute post on her Instagram Stories Sunday.

“I’ll always cherish the memories we shared – the laughs, the conversations, and just being around you. You had such a gentle heart and there was something so special about you that anyone who was lucky enough to know you could feel,” she said.

Fashion photographer Collier Schorr also took to social media to pay his tribute on Monday. “Wonderful boy with open arms and heart. I’m utterly devastated. Beautiful child and brother,” he wrote, captioning a carousel of images he shot of Gerber.

“I shot Pres[ley] a few times, the last being a Hugo Boss campaign. I could feel him struggling to be present under the scrutiny. But how he shone. He cared so much. He wanted to find his place. I can know how hard his family tried to keep him. I really can say I knew him a little but really loved him and his spirit. Dear Kaia you know how I feel but wanted to write it,” he wrote.
