Former First Lady Michelle Obama suited up for an event in New York City on Wednesday, joining the likes of Oscar winner Questlove and singer and actress Janelle Monáe. The former first lady attended the Audible and Higher Ground “The Wonder of Stevie” event, celebrating the podcast that focuses on the iconic albums of the legendary singer.

For the occasion, Obama wore the Barocco-print double-breasted blazer courtesy of Versace. Featuring the signature Barocco print, the long-sleeve blazer was set with black and gray tones and included Medusa Head silver buttons that popped.
The double-breasted blazer included peak lapels and featured a straight hem. Obama coordinated the look with a blouse featuring the same print and similarly patterned pants. She completed the ensemble with black boots and added a pair of bold silver statement earrings as the final touch.

This is the second time in the last week Obama favored a look from the Italian luxury fashion house. On Sept. 26, the former first lady attended the Clooney Foundation for Justice’s Albie Awards and wore another suited look by Versace, which featured a unique embellishment.
Obama wore a coordinated black suit set, which featured a double-breasted blazer with sharp, silk lapels and soft shoulders. The blazer coordinated with the “Becoming” author’s wide-leg black trousers. Along one lapel of Obama’s blazer were intertwined safety pins, with a series of four running down the lapel in smaller sizes.
Obama’s major power suit moments follow a trend of prominent women styling the trend for themselves. The former first lady has made plenty of fashion statements as of late, including her crisscross Monse look she wore to the Democratic National Convention last August.
Her recent style era features a string of elegant looks with a contemporary edge. Obama’s approach to style consistently demonstrates versatility, while remaining on trend.
