Paula Canovas del Vas put on a surreal performance where half the models were dressed in plain suits and the other half donned bright, flowy looks from the spring 2025 collection.

There was a balance between fluidity — sheer fabrics with floral motifs on flowing silhouettes and dramatic headpieces — and structured tailoring. The accessories were cute, too, especially the devil-shaped platform sandals and shoulder bags with XL puffy straps.

The designer said the Pina Bausch-esque choreography was inspired by The New York Times article “The 36 Questions That Lead to Love” by sociologist Arthur Aron, which surmised that structured self-disclosure can create closeness between strangers.

Accompanied by the reading of a set of 200 questions, Canovas del Vas’ own take on the 36 questions, a group of performers did all sorts of strange things together — dancing, lining up in a circle, marching together and leaning on each other’s back.

“There is this tension and awkwardness, but at the same time, you relate to them. A lot of them are not performers. My mom was one of the people that are in the suits. They said they feel very comfortable because they are in such a cluster that they don’t feel embarrassed. This is the strength of unity,” she said.
