Tennis fans are going to see more than just Taylor Fritz’s killer serve as the season kicks off at the Australian Open later this month.
Fritz, alongside Matteo Berrettini, both Boss ambassadors, will be wearing merchandise created from a newly developed product called NovaPoly. The yarn is a recycled alternative to virgin polyester and was developed in collaboration with Jiaren Chemical Recycling and NBC LLC.
NovaPoly features a special additive that speeds degradability in comparison to conventional polyester fibers, making it biodegradable in an anaerobic active microbial environment, the company said. It is made from recycled pre- and post-consumer textile waste.

The yarn will be featured in the styles worn by Boss’ ambassadors in Melbourne when the tournament kicks off on Jan. 18. NovaPoly will be featured in their jerseys, shorts and caps.
The development of the yarn speaks to Boss’ commitment to develop alternatives to conventional polyester and polyamide fibers. NovaPoly yarn is the second textile launched under Boss’ The Change initiative — a platform dedicated to exploring technological advances that can create designs with purpose.
While Fritz and Berrettini are debuting the yarn, it will also be used in products available to consumers beginning this month in Boss stores, online and through select wholesale customers globally.
