Fall gala season is upon us in New York, and the crop’s most fashionable affair returned to Lincoln Center Wednesday night: the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala.

The night drew guests including Sarah Jessica Parker, Andy Cohen, Laverne Cox, Nina Dobrev, Hari Nef, Brooke Shields, Dianna Agron, Tiffany Haddish, Nicole Ari Parker, David Burtka, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Justin Theroux, Bridget Everett, Sarita Choudhury and more, who posed along a red carpet outside in the plaza before mingling around the fountain for cocktails.

Shields was one of the first to arrive, soon followed by Gilles Mendel, who designed the costumes for this year’s performance “Beneath the Tides.” Mendel was joined by his daughter, Chloe Mendel Corgan, and her husband, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins.

“It was very chill. My kids were there bouncing off the walls,” Corgan said. “And she’s expecting a third, so we have a lot going on,” he added, motioning to his wife’s belly.

Corgan was wearing his wedding tuxedo for the night, which his father-in-law had made for their 2023 wedding. It was only his third time wearing it.

“We were joking today because I was like, ‘We’ve never gone out to a black tie event together and we’ve been together for almost 13 years,’” Mendel Corgan said.

“Rock ‘n’ roll and black tie don’t go together,” Corgan added.

Gilles Mendel, meanwhile, had been called back to the red carpet, where dancer Tiler Peck had arrived in one of his dresses but needed help attaching the matching cape.

Cox’s twirl onto the step and repeat made a waiting guest’s jaw quite literally drop. A patron of the ballet dutifully posed for photos before going to greet his friends.

“Who’s Nicky? Everybody was saying ‘Nicky’ on the red carpet — who is that?” he asked. That would be Hilton Rothschild, who had arrived just after him and hammed it up for the cameras as Fernando Garcia looked on.

Nef’s boyfriend Ludwig Hertado chatted with Jeremy O. Harris and Theroux offside while Nef walked the carpet. Cohen, Sedaris and Burtka did the same for SJP, who reunited with “And Just Like That” costars Parker and Choudhury at the event.

NYCB dancer Gilbert Bolden 3rd towered over the rest of the guests in a pair of platform heels and a body-hugging column gown, a look which he planned to put to use at the post-performance party.

“It’s sensible, it’s comfortable, I’m ready to dance,” he said.
