Di Du said she looked at Denmark’s Little Mermaid and the glimmering reflections of the Seine around sunset as the starting point of the spring 2025 collection, which saw an interesting mix of high glam and street attitude.
She styled the closing fishtail sequined gown with a cap, matched sultry ruched dresses with masculine boots, and paired ultra-low-cut skirts with baggy hoodies. The contrasts represented her emotional upheavals living in a new city, said Du, who relocated from Shanghai to Paris a year ago.
While she gets used to her life in Paris, her aesthetic is finding resonance in China. In the audience, Taiwanese actress Bea Hayden sat front row alongside some of the biggest influencers on Chinese social media.
Overall, the collection felt rebellious and energetic. But there was also this lingering desire for finer things peeping out here and there. Take away the styling tricks, and the designer showed a more elegant side for the first time — with the lace flares and evening numbers being the standouts.

This might just be what the brand should explore more in the future. It’s about time that an “Emily in Paris” style transformation kicks in for Du.
