As a finalist for the 2026 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, Amir Taghi described his pre-collection as a taste of what he’ll show in September during New York Fashion Week.
It was a sweet amuse-bouche, full of the kind of sophisticated separates and day dresses the Texan designer’s Southern clientele will love. But to satisfy the fashion crowd, he’ll need to bring his Iranian heritage more into focus.
Glimpses of it here included a cascading wrap skirt made of Persian rug fabric worn over skinny cut trousers and sculptural officer’s jackets subtly referencing the country’s military history. These and a patina’d plissè, which Taghi rightly described as “Fortuny-ish,” were intended to roughen the edges of his Lady Who Lunches. Well, they were about as rough as any disciple of Oscar de la Renta’s could get. So…perfect and polished.
