CASHMERE TIE-UP: Malo is linking up with fashion icon George Cortina, the New York-based stylist and fashion editor, for a codesigned capsule collection.

The edit spans 12 limited-edition knitwear pieces that look at the storied Italian brand’s archive, reissuing signature fits in new crayon-like colors, such as grass green, lavender, burgundy and melon, among others.

“Exploring Malo’s unparalleled archive of savoir-faire in knitwear has been a revelation. Going back to the house’s foundation in 1972, it is a trove of technical creativity from a more beautiful and expressive age. The longer I immersed myself in it, the more I was reminded of cinema’s leading men from that time: their distinction, their wit and the effortless character with which they wore clothes,” Cortina said.

“Shaping this collection has been a process of blending that spirit of ‘sprezzatura’ with Malo’s signature archival techniques, then applying a cinematic filter to set the resulting garments firmly in the present,” he added.

Crafted from cashmere, the brand’s distinctive material, the capsule comprises long-sleeve polo shirts, double-collar crewnecks, turtlenecks, ski sweaters, argyles, half-zips, bombers, a shawl cardigan and a knitted blazer. The latter is shaped after a Savile Row jacket from Cortina’s personal wardrobe and it’s aptly called George.

“George has a rare, exacting eye, honed over a brilliant career, for what makes a piece of clothing feel relevant rather than merely correct,” said Malo’s chief executive officer Michelle Kessler-Sanders. “I wanted an editor’s precise instincts to approach an archive of this size — someone who knows what to sharpen, rather than believing everything must change. George found the current in our classic menswear without losing what made it classic,” she offered.

The collection debuts at the end of September exclusively at Malo’s e-commerce site and at the recently revamped flagship on Milan’s Via della Spiga. It retails between $1,070 and $3,150.

Malo is due to present its spring 2027 mainline during the upcoming Milan Fashion Week, with a presentation scheduled for Thursday.

In 2025 Malo was acquired by Glickman Capital — led by technology and telecoms entrepreneur David Glickman. Founded in 1972, the company is based in Florence.
