Jenny Packham said her younger customers are asking for “lower necklines and shorter, strappier dresses,” and that’s what she delivered in this latest collection. “Right now, it’s much more about showing off flesh, but not in an outrageous way. The look is elegant and subtle.”

The designer drew on disco nights and memories of 1970s leading ladies whose sensuality dominated the screen: Ellen Barkin in “Sea of Love,” Michelle Pfeiffer in “Scarface,” and Sharon Stone in “Basic Instinct.”

Packham said she was thinking of those actresses walking into a room in high stilettos, and taking control of the scene. “I found it all so exciting,” said Packham, who described her silhouettes as “slinky, seductive, and sculptural,” as if the woman had been poured into them.

“Nothing,” Packham said “is whimsical.”

The glamour was heavy-duty and came in the shape of strapless gold, or seafoam green, gowns twinkling with faux jewels on the bodice, and with sequins placed vertically down the skirt. A turquoise slip dress with a deep V-neck was the color of a shimmering swimming pool, while a lighter blue-green one was adorned with gemstones placed in a cross-hatch patterns.

More demure gowns in black or powder blue came with dramatic gold collars fit for Egyptian queens, while others had a languid air. A sexy, unadorned white satin slip dress had a ’90s Calvin Klein vibe, while a glittering gold caftan looked as if it walked out of a Gustav Klimt painting.

Packham’s disco fantasy isn’t finished. She was so inspired by the glam characters of the 1970s that she’s planning an encore, “Disco Couture: Part Two,” next season because once that glitter ball starts spinning, it’s hard to make it stop.
