Supermodel Angela Lindvall is embracing her passion for wellness, launching Sacred Renewal, a retreat at Hacienda Antigua, an eight-bedroom private estate, in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico.

The retreat, which will be held from Jan. 22 to 28, is the first of 12 annual retreats hosted by Eagle + Condor, the company formed by Lindvall and cofounder Hilary Morse. While perhaps best known for her modeling career, being featured on the covers of Vogue, Elle and more and working with brands like Chanel and Dior, Lindvall calls wellness her “passion work.”

“Since I was 15, I’ve been very intrigued and always studying ancient cultures and philosophy and mindfulness. It was when my sister passed away in 2007 that my whole world shattered,” she said. “I realized that self care is the cornerstone to making the world a better place.”

After losing her sister, Lindvall began studying more, completing yoga teacher training, hosting community events and other experts’ retreats at her then-home in Topanga, Calif., and launching a wellness platform Peace Begins in Me offering yoga, meditation and more, she said. She is a certified yoga instructor, health coach and doula.

She said challenges she faced, particularly around self-doubt, also catapulted her to pursue a career in wellness.

“I’ve been through that whole journey myself of being in the fashion industry and feeling so disposable and feeling so valued for my external [self] and finding my voice and what I’m good at,” she said. “I’ve realized I have to do this work. This is my purpose.”

Now, Lindvall is expanding her reach with Eagle + Condor, which was created when she and Morse reconnected after first meeting in Topanga a decade ago.

“She just called me out of the blue and told me about the Hacienda in Mexico and the work that she was doing with the Wixárica people. She’s like, ‘We’re looking for an incredible host, and we feel like you would be a great person to do this,'” she said.

Morse said she had developed a relationship with the Wixárica people over the years, living with them on and off, and they wanted to “work together to spread the word about their culture.”

From there, the concept of Sacred Renewal was created, which to Lindvall will be “about learning how to generate life force within ourselves.”

Lindvall added: “We’re going to be doing yoga, deep meditations and pranayams. We’re also going to be incorporating workshops…[on] connecting with our truest nature [and] what builds life force energy… The special element is incorporating ceremonies as well, with Santos [Hernandez, a Wixárika spiritual guide] and going on these spiritual expedition hikes.”

While this is only the first retreat, Lindvall and Morse also noted they hope to eventually open a retreat center in the area.

With eight bedrooms, the retreat can accommodate up to 16 people. Tickets can be purchased at ECWellness.co.
