Netflix to buy Warner Bros. Discovery for nearly $83 billion

The consolidation deal between the streaming giant and the film and television studio is the biggest in the entertainment industry this decade.

Netflix will acquire the film and television studio Warner Bros. Discovery, the streaming giant announced Friday.

The deal, which is worth $82.7 billion (almost €71 billion), is the entertainment industry's largest consolidation agreement this decade.

Under the deal, Netflix will acquire the Warner Bros film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO.

"Our mission has always been to entertain the world," Ted Sarandos, co-chief executive of Netflix, said in a statement.
