A Stewartry arts centre is in the running for a top award.

The CatStrand in New Galloway has been nominated for venue of the year at the Scots Trad Music Awards.

The centre is run by Glenkens Community and Arts Trust (GCAT) and making the final is a tribute to the artists who have graced the stage over the year, along with loyal audiences who bring each event to life.

CatStrand creative director, Peter Renwick, said: “We’re over the moon to be recognised in this way and to be able to represent Dumfries and Galloway at this year’s Scots Trad Music Awards.

“This nomination reflects the vibrant traditional music culture we’ve built up over the last 17 years and are privileged to host and share with our community.”

The winner will be decided by public vote and votes can be cast at www.scotstradmusicawards.com by Sunday, November 10.
