Fans of the late singer Liam Payne have been quick to express their gratitude to his partner Kate Cassidy for bringing happiness and safety into his life before his tragic death.

The former One Direction star passed away at the age of 31 last week while on holiday in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

His girlfriend was by his side during the weeks leading up to his devastating death, although she returned to the US a few days before he fell from the third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel.

On Wednesday evening, Kate took to Instagram to post a heartfelt tribute to the star, revealing that he had written her a note promising they would be married within a year.

She expressed her profound grief, stating that her 'heart is shattered in ways she couldn't put into words'. Fans rallied around her in the comments section, thanking her for the joy she brought him.
