Two well known Stewartry residents were presented with the British Empire Medal on Friday.

Nigel Scott from Gatehouse and David McMath from Castle Douglas learned they were to receive the accolade when the King’s Birthday Honours List was announced in the summer.

And on Friday they received their medals from Lord Lieutenant of the Stewartry, The Lord Sinclair, at a special ceremony at the council chambers in Kirkcudbright.

Nigel was recognised for his work with Scouts Scotland and services to older people in the community, as well as his work with Royal Mail – having recently retired as a postie.

David’s honour was for his 15 years of work with Threave Rovers in Castle Douglas.
