Help Fund the ‘Onyx the Fortuitous’ Gory Book on Kickstarter Now!

by · Bloody Disgusting

Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls embodies a certain childlike wonder, so a children’s book version of the film is, as the titular character would say, pretty cool.

Invader Comics has launched a Kickstarter campaign to adapt the SCREAMBOX Original horror-comedy as part of its Gory Books line.

Written by Onyx the Fortuitous creator Andrew Bowser and Joan Ford, the 28-page story is illustrated by Kyle Hilton.

Well over halfway to its $10,000 goal with 19 days remaining, you can pre-order a digital version of the book for $10 or secure a first edition hardcover with an exclusive metal bookmark for $30. Other tiers come with additional swag, including the film’s soundtrack on vinyl or cassette.

The plot follows Onyx the Fortuitous as he joins a mysterious delegation led by his idol, Bartok the Great, for a once-in-a-lifetime ritual to raise the spirit of an ancient demon.

Debuting with Night of the Living Dead, Gory Books are children’s book-style adaptations of horror properties that explore the foundations of fright with poetic prose and intriguing illustrations inspired by the childhood classics of yesteryear.

A fun treat for the Halloween season, Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls is streaming on SCREAMBOX, Prime, and Tubi.
