Samara Weaving and Radio Silence Are Officially Back For ‘Ready or Not 2’

by · Bloody Disgusting

After months of speculation, it’s official: Samara Weaving and Radio Silence will both be back for anticipated sequel Ready or Not 2, per Deadline.

The news was announced by Radio Silence at a Searchlight screening for their 2019 fan-favorite film. Production and release info will be announced at a later date.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directed Ready or Not. In addition to Samara Weaving, the cast included Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell.

The first film introduced a mythology wherein the wealthy Le Domas family has made a deal with the devil, one that requires them to take part in bizarre – and deadly – wedding night traditions. There’s much that can be done with the premise going forward, even if the first movie ended with Weaving’s Grace massacring the family and burning down their estate.

The sequel announcement likely doesn’t come as a shock, as Weaving recently confirmed she was interested in continuing. Weaving told ComicBook.com, “I’m all in. I think we’re all in, I don’t know. I think we’re all in. I don’t know if we’ve had our blood handshake, but pretty much. We’ve done the spit handshake, but we haven’t cut each other’s hands and rubbed our blood together.”

As for what keeps bringing her back to the genre, Weaving recently told us, “Horror people are just cool. You guys, it’s a different vibe; it’s a different breed. And I just love that tone; I love horror.

Ready or Not directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin had explained to Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, “Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out. What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute fucking banger. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening.”

Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin are on a roll since their 2019 hit, with the filmmaking duo following Ready or Not with  Scream, Scream VI, and this year’s Abigail.

VP of Production Richard Ruiz and Creative Executive Cornelia Burleigh will be overseeing the sequel for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to Co-Heads of Production and Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas. Producers on part 2 are Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak, James Vanderbilt. EPs are Chad Villella, Tara Farney.
