Back to our regularly scheduled programming here, the 1970s!!!!

A few weeks ago we got into our little VW van and traveled back in time to discuss a decade that is so beloved among the film community. Many of you shared some really cool stories about seeing classic films in the theater during the ’70s, and those types of moments here at AD are what make our community continue to thrive. You guys are the best!

This week we’re going to do my favorite challenge: Rewrite the Oscars. Usually I try to enforce the rule that you must pick your winners from the nominated films and performances, but because so many of you have such a wide taste in cinema, I say let’s open it up a little. Name your best of the ’70s and truly make your winners your own. I will be covering Picture, Director, Lead and Supporting Acting, and Screenplay from the nominated films, though!

As I made my selections for these winners, I must admit I need to rewatch a lot of these films and actually watch more of them. I’m not nearly as well-versed in the films of the ’70s as I am in the Oscar winners of the decade. You all may have drastically different thoughts on my choices, and that’s okay!
