MONROVIA- Activa International Insurance Company (Liberia) Limited through its foundation as part of its corporate social responsibility has provided 19 Liberian students scholarships through the Rescue for Abandoned & Children in Hardship (REACH).

The company on Tuesday at its head office in Sinkor (5th Street), launched the second phase of its Back to School program and provided the sum of nine hundred sixty thousand Liberian dollars (L$960,000) to REACH for the full registration and tuition of 19 underprivileged students.

Mr. Austin W. Gahr – Managing Director & CEO of Activa, speaking at Phase two of the company Back to School ceremony, lauded the founder and Executive Director of REACH, Mrs. Nesuah Beyan Livingstone for the smooth partnership geared towards bringing relief to less fortunate parents by providing education for their kids through ACTIVA foundation to keep them in school.

The Managing Director & CEO of Activa encouraged and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining the scholarship as part of an effort to ensure young Liberians have access to adequate education.

He said the Activa Back to School scholarship program started in 2023 through a partnership with REACH to help underprivileged kids have access to quality education.

For her part, the founder and Executive Director of REACH, Mrs. Nesuah Beyan Livingstone, expressed her organization’s gratitude to ACTIVA Foundation for reducing the backlog of her organization to assist in providing scholarship opportunities for underprivileged children.

She said ACTIVA has been a wonderful partner assisting in easing the stress of parents who can not afford to send their kids to school over the last two academic years by keeping them in school.

“We want to say thank you to ACTIVA foundation for the opportunity to ensure 17 underprivileged kids attend some of the best schools in Liberia,” Mrs. Livingstone said.

Also speaking, Aloysious Sayboh, speaking on behalf of the students, expressed thanks to Activa for the support towards him and his colleague’s educational sojourn.

“Activa has eased the financial burden from my single mother and if it wasn’t for Activa I wouldn’t have been here today and even in school because there was no hope but Activa brought hope,” Aloysius said.

Speaking on behalf of the parents of beneficial students, Mr. Rahim Belleh praised Activa for all they continue to do through their partnership with REACH to help parents who cannot afford to pay the fees of their children to remain in school.

The Business Development & Marketing Officer of Activa Mr. Nathan S. Bengu, Jr., also speaking, praised REACH and said that the ACTIVA’s Foundation as part of its corporate social responsibility to give back to Liberia and promote quality education by maintaining a high standards for the scholarship students and providing an ease to financial burdens for parents.

Providing background information about Activa Foundation, Ms. Alice B. Dennis, Human Resources & Administration Officer, said the ACTIVA foundation which is part of the Activa International Insurance Company (Liberia) Limited, said the ACTIVA foundation was founded in December 2014 to contribute to the social development of Liberia. To coordinate the company’s corporate social responsibility in health, education, culture, environment, and sustainable development.
